JAMMU, Mar 1: The foundation stone of Medical College Hospital for Sant Manjeet Singh Institute of Medical Science and Research will now be laid on March 10 by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and the Union Minister for Health Ghulam Nabi Azad.
This was informed by S Dayal Singh, general secretary of Shiromani Akali Dal, while addressing a press conference, here today.
“The Chief Minister and Union Health Minister have given their consent for participation in the foundation stone laying ceremony on March 10 at Jewan Nagar Maralian Road Jammu, near MBS College of Engineering and Technology,” he said.
Earlier, the foundation stone was scheduled to be laid last month but the function had to be postponed owing to bad weather conditions.
For the project worth Rs 1200 crore, Dayal Singh added, medical college infrastructure is being raised keeping in view initial intake capacity of 150 students in accordance with the norms laid down by Medical Council of India.
The press conference was also addressed by some other Sikh leaders, including Narbir Singh, Mohinder Singh, Paramjeet Singh and Ramnik Singh who highlighted the achievements of Dera Nangali Sahib Poonch and Sant Manjit Singh Trust, which is establishing this Medical College Hospital.
