JAMMU, July 2: In a pride to the only farm University of Jammu division, all the scientists of SKUAST-Jammu who participated in the International Conference at Thailand were awarded for their contributions.
On the basis of API score and performance in research, Dr Vikas Sharma from biochemistry division of SKUAST-J gets Distinguish Scientist Award-2019 whereas Dr Anil Bhatt received Scientist of the Year Award in the field of Agricultural Economics. On the basis of the performance in teaching, Dr Vivak M Arya of Soil Science Division got Excellent Teacher Award whereas Dr Saudagar Diwedi from Economics Division got Eminent Teacher Award.
Four best poster presentation awards were also claimed by SKUAST-J Scientists namely DrJai Kapoor (Junior Scientist Agronomy), Dr Laxmi Kant (Assistant Professor, Agricultural Extension), Dr Narinder Panotra (Assistant Professor Agronomy) and Dr Vivak M Arya (Assistant Professor Soil Science) whereas the best oral presentation award was claimed by Dr Saudagar Diwedi of Agricultural Economics Division.
These awards that contain a Certificate of Excellence along with a memento were conferred to Scientists of SKUAST-Jammu at Scientist Award Ceremony of International Conference on the theme Global Initiatives for Sustainable Development: Issues and Strategies held on 23rd to 27th June, 2019 at Bangkok, Thailand. The conference was attended by more than 300 delegates from 19 different countries including India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, South Africa, Taiwan, Srilanka, USA, Jordan, Thailand, Finland, Japan and USA.
Moreover, Dr Shahid Ahmed, Associate Director Research, Dr Parshant Bakshi, Associate Professor and Dr Bharat Bhushan, Joint Registrar delivered expert lecture on Organic farming for sustainable development, Horticulture: A Key for sustainable development and ICT/sustainable development, respectively whereas Professor Vikas Sharma chaired a session on Natural Resources Management that concluded while advocating a strong linkage between science and society.
