JAMMU, July 9: All J&K Low Paid Employees Federation (LPEF) has termed the Union Budget 2019-20 as highly inflationary and sugar coated pill for working classes and toiling masses.
In a handout Federation president, Abdul Majid Khan said, the budget is heavily tilted towards the privileged sections of the society and foreign investors.
He also said that immediately after general elections were over the prices of consumer goods started increasing and after this budget these prices are most likely to rise further.
Khan said that 68 per cent of the national income comes from taxes which are usually paid by the fixed income groups, middle and poorer classes.
He pleaded for exempting annual earning upto Rs. 10 lakh from paying income tax as among the working classes, there are middle and lower ranking pensioners, clerks, teachers and class IV employees etc whose annual income is much less than Rs. 10 lakh and they are required to be exempted from paying income tax on pension benefits and salaries, DA, medical allowance etc.
