9 doctors terminated for unauthorized absence

Srinagar, July 10: Health and Medical Education Department today terminated 9 doctors for their unauthorized absence from duties.
The doctors, as per the termination order, were served final notice to join back their duties, however, they did not respond to the notice to date.
The doctors who have been terminated are Dr Shabeer Ahmad Mir, Consultant Surgery, Dr Mir Basharat Ahmad Kanth, Consultant Surgeon, Dr Shahnawaz Bhat, Dr Zebah Altaf, Dr Suhail Maqbool, Dr Sheikh Mohd Tahir, Dr Burhan Wani, Dr Hakim Irfan Showkat, all Medical Officers and  Dr Hamid Ali Dar, Dental Surgeon.
The order said that the Health Services, Jammu and Kashmir had already given them a notice to report back. “The matter was examined in Health and Medical Education Department and it was decided to give a final opportunity to these absentee doctors to rejoin their duties,” the order said.
After the notice, the Directorates furnished a list of 9 such doctors who have not reported back even after giving them a final opportunity to rejoin their duties, the order said.
“Now, therefore, in light of the relevant rules and circumstances explained hereinabove, the services of the about nine (09) doctors are hereby terminated with effect from the dates they are on unauthorized absence,” the order states.
