JAMMU, Mar 2: Village Development Committee Purmandal has expressed grave concern over the failure of authorities in shifting the Cremation Ground from Shiv Temple to newly constructed shed at Purmandal.
In a statement issued here today representatives of the Committee, said that cremation of dead near the Shiv temple is adding to problems of the villagers there as well as pilgrims visiting this holy shrine from time to time.
They said though authorities have issued the orders banning cremation near Shiv temple yet same orders have not been enforced till date. This has added to the woes of the people in the area as well as the pilgrims visiting Purmandal during the religious festivals.
They also demanded development of Purmandal by brining it on the map of country’s pilgrimage tourism to boost the economy of the area.
The Committee representatives said during the holy festivals of Maha Shivratri and Somawati Amawasia falling on March 10 and 11 respectively a large number of pilgrims will visit Purmandal to participate in the religious functions there. Besides three days celebrations of Chet Choudas, first Navratra and Baisaki festivals will also be held on April 9, 10, 11 and 13 at Purmandal so the Government should make elaborate arrangements for the same.
