NEW DELHI: Lok Sabha created a record on Thursday night as the House sat till midnight to debate and discuss the Demands for Grants pertaining to the Ministry of Railways.
“The Lok Sabha sat till 11.58 pm on Thursday to conclude discussion on demands for grants for the Railway Ministry, it is for the first time in nearly 18 years that the Lower House has sat for this long,” tweeted Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi.
Debate on demands for grants under the Ministry of Railways continued till midnight in Lok Sabha on Thursday with several members pressing demands of their respective parliamentary constituencies and sharing their views on the government policy on Railways.
Railway Minister Piyush Goyal thanked Speaker Om Birla for allowing most members speak up their mind and share their views on the functioning of Ministry of Railways.
“As many as 99 members spoke before me….I am fortunate to be the 100th person to speak on Railway Demands for Grants,” Mr Goyal said.
He also lauded the role of MoS Railways Suresh C Angadi for giving a patient hearing to the members speaking on the railway demand.
He also thanked the Lok Sabha secretariat staff and the media persons for working late on Thursday. (AGENCIES)
