Awareness prog on ‘Crime against Women’ held

JAMMU, Mar 2: Dogra College of Education in collaboration with Women Empowerment Forum organized an awareness programme on the theme “Crime against Women”.
Rajni Sehgal, Superintendent, Kot Bhalwal Jail was the chief guest, while Prof Reeta Jatinder, ex-secretary, Cultural Academy was the guest of honour. Anu Radha Goswami, president, Women Empowerment Forum and Dr Usha Tikoo, Vice President, Vichar Kranti Manch were the special guests.
Rajni Sehgal in her address pointed out that throughout ages women in India have faced gruesome atrocities. She further added that the face and the style of women exploitation has changed from visible to invisible, however, the cruelty and extent is unchanged.
Reeta Jitender while speaking stressed out that according to India’s constitution, women are legal citizens of the country and have equal rights with men.
Anu Radha Goswami said that crime against women is increasing day by day and need of the hour is to change our mind set.
Dr Usha Tikoo also expressed her views and said that only 39 per cent of all the women in India actually attended the primary school.
Earlier, Shefali Sharma, Vice Principal of the college presented the welcome address.
At the end, Bela Thakur, Academic Coordinator presented vote of thanks.
Among others present were Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary, Dogra Educational Trust, Prof BD Danral, Director, Dogra College of Education and Prof VK Kapoor, Director cum Principal.
