Pentavalent vaccine launched in Kargil

KARGIL, Mar 2: For the first in Kargil district of Leh, Pentavalent vaccine was introduced and administered to children here.
A formal function in this regard was held by Health and Family Welfare Department Kargil wherein the vaccine was administered to a baby by technical staff in presence of Executive Councilor Health LAHDC Kargil Er.Punchok Tashi and Deputy Commissioner / CEO LAHDC Fida Hussain.
On the occasion, Dr. Shabbir Hussain, Chief Medical Officer Kargil and Dr. Gh. Mohammad Pediatrician District Hospital Kargil threw light on the importance of the Pentavalent vaccine.
Pentavelant vaccine is being gradually launched in the country by Govt. of India under Universal Immuni-zation Programme to protect the children from dangerous diseases.
By Pentavalent vaccine, five diseases; Diphtheria, Pertusis Tetanus, Hepatitis B & Haemophilus influenza b are covered in one vaccine for children upto one year age.
