JAMMU, July 14: The civilians engaged by army as porters during Kargil war have staged a protest demonstration here today demanding some employment so that they may take care of their families.
The protesting porters told reporters that ten among them were martyred during Kargil war and their families were properly compensated apart from a Government job to one of their family member.
“But over the years we have been neglected by the authorities concerned and our families are suffering due to financial problems,” they said adding that they were given certificates by army authorities to get preference in Government jobs but nothing happened.
They appealed to the Government authorities to look into their matter and engage them in some jobs so that they may take proper care of their families.
