‘Postal delays creating trouble, SIC must send notices via e-mail also’

SRINAGAR, July 14: Chairman J&K RTI Movement, Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat has appealed State Information Commission (SIC) to send notices for case hearings to appellants and complainants via email also as postal delays deprive many appellants and complainants to appear before the SIC.
In a statement Dr Bhat said that many cases are disposed-off by SIC when the appellants or complainants are absent but in reality in some cases these people hardly get SIC’s notice for appearance and that is the reason they are unable to appear for hearings.
“This is nothing but injustice with the aggrieved and we appeal Commissioner SIC, M.A Mir to make sure notices are send via e-mail too and complainants should be asked to write down their email ID on the appeal/complaint applications.
If SMS are also send in advance that would also help the aggrieved as this procedure is being followed by Central Information Commission as well.
“We must make best use of technology and Commission must start sending notices via e-mail too”   said Bhat mentioning a recent case titled  Sartaj Ahmad V/s PDD Budgam which was ‘disposed-off in his absence while as he received the SIC notice much later than the day of case hearing.’
