REASI, July 14: A grand Sammelan of SC, ST, OBC & Minorities was held today at Shree Guru Ravidass Bhawan, Reasi in which large number of people cutting across the political lines participated and discussed the problems being faced by the people of these communities.
The speakers expressed their anguish over current affairs of politics wherein caste atrocities are increasing day by day while Constitutional share guaranteed is being denied, no backlog is being cleared, special component plans schemes for SC/ST are being banned, OBC reservation is not enhanced and minorities along with SC ST OBCs are being targeted and attacked on caste basis.
R K Kalsotra, State President of All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organisations, J&K, was chief guest of the Sammelan. He said that despite certain achievement, the fight for justice is still to be continued for restoration of special component plan scheme for ST, SCs, clearing of backlogs, enhancement of reservation for OBC and restoration of reservation in promotion. Alleging that the policies toward the vulnerable sections are biased and in order to fight against such policies, he demanded muscle and mental support from people.
Babu Ram, Senior KAS officer, while addressing the people, said that while serving as a Government servant, he tried his level best to serve the society also to the best of his abilities. Claiming himself as a Sevadar, he claimed to continue to do so in future too.
Almost all the speakers felt that the grievances are not settled because of political vacuum which needs to be filled in Reasi by a person like Babu Ram.
Others who spoke on the occasion, included Choudhary Mohd Sadiq, District President Gujjar Bakarwal Federation; Kaka Ram Bhagat, Retd ZEO; Tariq Bhat, Distt Secy NC and a social leader; Ravi Kumar, Jugal Kishore, Ghulam Hussain, Amar Nath, Taramani (All Sarpanches) Vaneet Pangotra, Naib Sarpanch, Vee Kay Roy, Councilor, Bodh Raj Ex Sarpanch, Dina Nath, Charan Dass, Puran Chand President Guru Ravidass Sabha, Saryara Sabha & Masha Sabha (All Reasi), Sita Ram, Retd Tehsildar, Babu Ram, Retd Engineer, Ram Lal, Noor Jamal, Masters, Ali Khan HM and Adv Deepak Attri.
