JAMMU/SRINAGAR, July 16: The State Joint Action Committee of Engineering Graduates’ Associations (Civil, Electrical and Mechanical) today protested across the State and also threatened two- day pen down/ tool down strike on July 29 and 30 if their demands are not met.
In support of their demands, the Engineering Graduate organized protests today at PDD Complex, Bemina, Srinagar, Lok Nirman Bhavan, Jammu, Divisional Headquarters Kargil, Ladakh and all the district Headquarters of the State.

A spokesperson of the Association said the engineers held the sit-in and expressed their anguish for non-fulfillment of their legitimate demands, which include regularization of all in charge promotions on a one-time basis on the analogy of Education Department, issuance of SRO for the ACP Scheme, implementation of SRO 42 of 2011 and enhancement of FTA to a rational amount in favor of Junior Engineers.
SJAC has threatened to go for a two-day pen-down strike if their demands are not fulfilled within the next ten days. “If the SRO for ACP scheme and clarification of SRO 42 of 2011 is not issued before July 29, 2019, the engineers will be left with no option but to proceed on two days pen down/ tool down strike on July 29 and 30, 2019,” SJAC spokesperson said.
He added that they will carry a protest march on 30th July this year from Engineering complex located at Rajbagh to Civil Secretariat in Srinagar while similar protest march will be held at Jammu and Ladakh towards Divisional offices on the same day.
The protesting engineers impressed upon the Government to not to push them for resorting to harsh steps and the issues may be resolved before July 29.
At Lok Nirman Bhawan, Jammu, a large number of Graduate engineers assembled and held protest dharna in support of their demands. Addressing the gathering, Er Gandeep Pargal lambasted the delaying tactics and casual approach adopted towards engineers by the Government and expressed his anguish that even the assurance of the Governor regarding SRO for extending the benefits of Time Bound Running Grades/ Assured Career Progression to J&K Engineering Gazetted Services at par with doctors immediately after opening of Darbar at Srinagar didn’t come true.
Er Harvinder Singh, President JK EEGA, Er Mujib Tak, Deepak Gupta, Sanjeev Chadha, Nasir Goni, Gagan Jyoti, Neeraj Sharma, D K Khanna and others also addressed the gathering.
