JAMMU, July 20: President Thathri Development Front, District Doda Kuldeep Kumar Rao, has demanded constitution of Delimitation Commission and rotation of reserved Assembly constituencies before Assembly elections.
He said that the people of Jammu province have never got what was their genuine due share in the socio-economic and political processes during all these more than 70 years of the State’s accession to India.
“It is Jammu based leadership that is responsible for the step-motherly treatment being meted out to the people of Jammu Province. There is hardly any section of society in Jammu region which is happy. Had the Jammu leadership, like its counterpart in Kashmir discharged its obligations towards this region and played a pro-active role in the State cabinet, Legislative Assembly and Legislative council, the story of Jammu Province today would have been totally different”, he added.
Rao has appealed to the Governor to create separate Assembly Constituency for Sub-Division Thathri. He further said that the Sub-Division Thathri also deserves to be a District on the basis of all those norms which were applied while Kishtwar and Ramban Tehsils were upgraded to the status of District. Sub-Division Thathri, at present comprises of five Tehsils instead three–Thathri, Phagsoo, Kahara, Chirala & Bhella. The Sub-Division Thathri having five Tehsils–two more than the existing norms for Assembly Constituency and District, he stated.
Keeping these genuine claims in view, the public of Sub-Division Thathri have urged to the Governor of the State to upgrade Sub-Division Thathri like that of Basohli, Billawar, Bhadarwah, Koteranka, Nowshera, Sunderbani and Kalakote Sub-Divisions and create ADC post in Sub-Division Thathri also.
Rao also demanded a separate tourism Authority for Sub-Division Thathri as it now comprises of 5 Tehsils and all the existing districts and Assembly Constituencies in the State have hardly 2 or 3 Tehsils.
