JAMMU, July 23: Government of India owned, New India Assurance Company (NIAC ) celebrated its 101 birthday (foundation day) today at its Gandhi Nagar Divisional Office.
Founded by JRD Tata in the year 1919, it is one of the oldest multinational insurance service providers,  having about 2500 offices all across India providing nearly 230 insurance products.
Speaking on this occasion, its Senior Divisional Manager, Dr Daleep Pandita, requested its employees to re-dedicate themselves for the improvement of insurance services in J&K state.   While thanking its all the stake holders, he also requested them for their continued patronage in future too.
Pandita said that in last financial year, NIAC has underwritten about 117 crores of premium in the State against which it  has settled over 30,000 claims  with 95 percent claim settlement ratio, which is a record achievement in the history of the general insurance industry of the state.  NIACL  also paid more than 20 claims, each for a value of Rs 2 lakhs each, under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna   (PMJDY ) implemented through J&K Gramin Bank.
In order to address the burning issue of  unemployment  in J&K , NIACL on this occasion also launched recruitment drive for appointment of  agents, especially at rural level,  to ensure that its  insurance services reach to the interior of the state.
During this function which was celebrated with full zeal and fervour, gift cards were distributed among the employees besides  mementos were presented to the deserving staff for the meritorious services rendered by them.
