Some divisive forces trying to divide J&K on communal, religious lines: Azad

SRINAGAR, July 27: While cautioning the people against the designs of some divisive forces to divide J&K on communal and religious lines, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and All India Congress Committee, general secretary, Ghulam Nabi Azad today said that Congress was capable enough to defeat such forces in the state and the country.
Addressing meeting of the party functionaries from various Assembly constituencies and other leaders here today, AICC leader asked them to launch public outreach programme and project the basic issues of the people. He said people have been deprived of the basic amenities in various areas under Governor’s Administration and party activists must reach out to the public and project their issues forcefully.
While cautioning the people from the communal and divisive forces in the State, AICC leader said that Congress Party was strong and capable enough to defeat the divisive forces in the State. He said communal harmony among various communities and our democratic structure is the real strength of this Nation. He said party would now allow to succeed such designs of these forces. He said the people of the State have high hopes from the Congress party in the State as per its previous track record of equal development and justice with all the three regions.
Apart from other things, Azad reviewed the organizational affairs and activities in Kashmir province emphasizing the Party men to gear up for the challenges.
Azad asked the Party cadre to reach out to people and ensure redressal of their grievances. He said Congress Party feels highly concerned about the wellbeing of the people in the country and the State, and shall do its utmost to address their genuine concerns both in the Parliament and outside.
Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president, GA Mir also addressed the meeting and emphasized the leaders and workers to invigorate the Party from grass-root level in their respective constituencies.
Both the leaders expressed serious concern over the difficulties confronting the people in all the three regions, describing the absence of elected Govt as a major source of disillusionment for the masses in J&K. Many important issues of public importance also came under discussion.
The meeting also held threadbare discussions with regard to overall socio-political scenario prevailing in the State and devised a strategy to counter the falsehood and political exploitation by BJP and other opportunist parties.
PCC chief GA Mir said that with today’s meeting all the 46 constituencies in Kashmir have been completed. Today, Azad had meeting with party functionaries from remaining 37 constituencies of Kashmir. In the evening he had meeting with all the Corporators of SMC and former legislators from Srinagar city followed by another meeting with the senior past leaders in the late evening. He has asked the party rand and file to get ready for upcoming challenges. Former minister Peerzada Mohd Sayeed, Taj Mohiuddin, senior leaders Usman Majid, Gulzar Wani, Mohd Amin Bhat and others were also present.
