Discrimination with Dogri will not be tolerated: NDS

JAMMU, July 27: Nami Dogri Sanstha has expressed serious concern over non inclusion of Dogri as a subject in syllabus of higher secondary schools of Jammu region.
Advocate Harish Kaila, President NDS, revealed that State Government vide Commissioner – Secretary Higher Education Order No.: 204 dated 18-06-2019 has upgraded 102 high schools of Jammu province to the level of higher secondary schools but Dogri as a subject has totally been ignored and not included in the curriculum of upgraded schools.
Drawing attention today J&K High Court order dated 31-03-2018 with the directions that all regional languages should be made compulsory from primary level in all schools, he said that even the Parliament of the country honours and propogates flourishing of regional languages.
President, NDS warned that Dogri, mother tongue of Dogras, which is enlisted in the 8th schedule of the Indian Constitution, cannot be taken lightly and therefore, any type of discrimination with Dogri language will not be tolerated. Alleging that some visibly unscruplous forces were working to destroy the identity of Dogras which shall be fought tooth and nail, he appealed to the Governor J&K to personally intervene into the matter and do justice with the Dogri language.
