JAMMU, Mar 4: A large number of Displaced Kashmiri Pandits today staged dharna in front of Raj Bhawan here protesting against the failure of the Government in solving their burning problems.
The protest was held under the leadership of president, All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC), HL Chatta.
Addressing the gathering, senior vice-president, ASKPC, NRK Raina demanded the Government to declare displaced community as internally displaced after passing 22 years in exile.
The other demands raised by the speakers includes reservation of five seats in exile, in the legislatures for KPs, opening vocational training centres for the women of displaced community, enhancement of monthly relief upto Rs 10000 per month per family of four members, one time stipend of Rs 25 lakh in favour of each over-age youth of the community, 3% reservation in Central and State Government jobs, APL ration for migrant pensioners and employees and immediate passage of Kashmiri Hindu Temples/Shrines Bill to protect religious places of the community in the Valley.
The speakers also stressed for carving out a separate place for KPs in the valley where they can live under free flow Indian Constitution with political, economical and educational guarantees.
Among others who spoke on the occasion were president, ASKPC, HL Chatta, Chairman, APMC, Vinod Pandita, president, Women Cell of the Organisation, Veena Gurtoo, TN Raina, Ravinder Koul, PL Sudesh, Virji Khar, SK Bhat and Bharat Bhushan Bhat.
