Assembly extended up to April 4

JAMMU, Mar 4: The Business Advisory Committee (BAC) today revised the calendar for Legislative Assembly extending the session up to April 4. Earlier, the session was scheduled to conclude on April 2.
However, the BAC reversed its decision of holiday on all Saturdays by keeping only March 9, the eve of Maha Shivratri as off-day. All other Saturdays have been marked as working days.
As per the revised calendar, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah would reply to debate on Motion of Thanks on Governor’s Address on March 5. Earlier, the reply was scheduled for March 4. However, Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather would present the general budget for 2013-14 on March 6, the original date.
Discussion on budget would be held on March 7, 8 and 11. Mr Rather would reply to discussion in second sitting of March 11.
The demands of Ministries would be taken up on March 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 18, 19, 20, 22 and 23 in double sittings.
The budget (Appropriation bill) would be passed on March 25 while Government business would be taken up on March 26.
Private member’s Resolutions would be taken up on March 28 and April 1 while private member’s bills would be debated on March 30 and April 3. April 2 and 4 have been reserved for the Government business.
