Govt clarifies ban on transfer of teachers

SRINAGAR, July 31: Government today clarified that a news item regarding ban on transfer of teachers carried out in some sections of media was quoted out of context.
According to an official spokesperson, the ban on transfer policy was discussed during a review meeting of Education Department at Civil Secretariat on Saturday but no immediate decision was arrived at ban on transfer of teaching faculty.
The spokesperson further said that the Education Department is in the process of rationalisation of teaching faculty which may take some time.
“In the meeting it was decided that the ban would come into operation after the process of rationalisation is completed, which would be done by or before 15th August and thereafter there would be a complete moratorium on the transfer of teaching faculty for the next two months,” the spokesperson explained.
In the review meeting, it was also decided that in order to address various service related issues pending solution since long in the Education Department, Education Service Adalat shall be organized by selecting officers from all the regions of the State under the aegis of Human Resource Management Cell of the Education Department.
The modalities of this Adalat shall be shared with the teaching and non-teaching staff shortly while all these steps are being taken to improve the standards of education as well as service conditions of the staff, said the spokesperson.
