DBYC, Freedom Fighters remember Shaheed Udham Singh

JAMMU, July 31: Desh Bhagat Yadgaar Committee (DBYC) here today paid rich tributes to the freedom fighter Sardar Udham Singh on Shaheedi Divas.
A handout stated that the martyr was hanged on July 31, 1940 at Pentonville Prison in London.
DBYC organised a one day seminar today in this regard at Gurudwara Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Complex here.
Speaking on the occasion Sukhdev Singh, DBYC Convener said Shaheed Udham Singh laid his life for his countrymen.
He also said that Udham Singh was present at Jallianwala Bagh when a peaceful assembly of people was fired upon by General Reginald Edward Harry Dyer, killing over one thousand people.
DBYC members have appealed to the Government of India to take up the matter with England for bringing back belongings of Udham Singh from there.
Meanwhile, to commemorate the martyrdom day of Shaheed Udham Singh, J&K Freedom Fighters’ Association (JKFFA) here today paid rich tributes to the great freedom fighter.
In this regard a function was organized at Dogra Shourya Sthal, Amphalla.
Throwing light on the life of Singh, JKFFA Chairman, Ved Gandotra said Udham Singh was a true patriot who fought against the British empire.
Rajiv Mahajan, Association Vice Chairman recalled how Udham Singh killed General Diar to avenge the massacre of Jallianwala Bagh.
The Association members lit candles to pay tributes to Udham Singh and observed a two-minute silence in respect to the martyr.
