JAMMU, Aug 1: Former Legislator and chief patron of National Panthers Party, Prof Bhim Singh has said that 35-A is the naked sword hanging over the State subjects of J&K.
Addressing media persons here today, Prof Singh, said that the President of India, Ramnath Kovind is quite competent to remove 35- A which has been appended to the Constitution of India under a Presidential order which expired in May 1954. The Presidential Ordinance has validity of six months only. Click here to watch video
NPP supremo said that 35- A is like damocles sword hanging on the heads of residents of Jammu & Kashmir since 1954, curbing the Fundamental Rights enshrined in the Constitution of India, for J&K State residents. He asserted that President can remove Article 35 -A just by another order.
Bhim Singh regretted that both ruling and opposition parties in particular in Kashmir are exploiting the issues of 35- A and Article 370 which was also a temporary provision in the Constitution and should have been erased since long. He blamed BJP, Congress, NC, PDP etc. for creating confusion in the minds of innocent masses only for vote politics and nothing else. Replying to a question from media, Bhim Singh, a leading Supreme Court lawyer said that common people of Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh are innocent and well connected with each other and understand the political motives of these leaders, who have only exploited them for the last over 70 years. There is no danger in communal harmony and brotherhood in J&K, come what may, he said.
The NPP leader reiterated demand for extension of Indian Flag, Indian Constitution to State of Jammu & Kashmir which is keeping the State masses at distance from the Union Republic of India.
He said Panthers Party is holding one day convention/urgent meeting on August 3, 2019 at Press Club, Jammu to announce its programme of Assembly elections and its strategy. He said that NPP will contest all the 87 Assembly seats in J&K.
He further demanded immediate holding of delimitation in the State to equalize Assembly constituencies in both provinces of the State besides releasing 9 (nine) seats in favour of Refugees from PoJK to ensure their Constitutional rights.
Senior leaders PK Ganju, Anita Thakur and Capt Anil Gour were also present in the conference.
