JAMMU, Aug 4: The Department of Social Welfare Jammu today released Citizen’s Charter Book and Information Brochure.
Dr. Bharat Bhushan, Director, Social Welfare apprised that Citizen’s Charter contains information on various schemes that are being implemented by the Social Welfare Department. The department provides scholarship to the students pursuing education in pre and post matric classes. The department also provides post matric scholarships to students who are pursuing polytechnic, Diploma,MBBS, BDS, BAMS, B.E and other professional courses, both inside as well as outside the State so that they can pursue their higher studies and increase their employability.
It is pertinent here that last year, scholarships to the tune of Rs 21 crore were provided to more than 85000 students. He further added that department also provides pension to aged, infirm, widow, destitute and differently abled persons of the State besides running 10 Bal Ashrams and seven Nari Niketans. The department also has construction programmes and helps NGOs through grant-in-aid for furthering the social welfare related activities.
He added that with the publication of Citizen’s Charter, the department will be in a better position to aware the masses about its schemes and people will be able to avail the benefits of various welfare measures of the Government. Similarly the Information Brochures will also provide compact information to the public about the functioning of the department.
Kuldeep Singh, Deputy Director, Planning, Archana Kumari, CAO, Kailash Devi, Assistant Director (Schemes) , Ranbireshwar Singh Jamwal, Assistant Director (Administration) and Ajay Sallan, District Social Welfare Officer Jammu were present on the occasion.
Dr. Bharat Bhushan, appreciated the good work done by the editorial board in bringing out the Citizen’s Charter. He also appreciated all the District Social Welfare officers of Jammu province who contributed by providing information, photographs of the various social welfare activities conducted in their respective districts.
