PNBMT expresses concern over grabbing of temples’ land

JAMMU, Aug 4: Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust (PNBMT) organised a meeting to take stock of the recent political developments and also to discuss the strategies for the smooth passage of the Temples and Shrines Bill. Secretary of the Trust, Sundri Lal Koul apprised the members about the activities of the Trust.
The members expressed concern that the previous political dispensations and even the present ruling establishment is not displaying any sense of urgency in a matter for which entire community is concerned.
The recent encroachment of the Shiv temple in Rainawari Kashmir is a case on the point and despite registering huge protests by the community the authorities have taken no action in vacating the usurpers of the sacred temple land. The members appealed to the Government to take serious action in the matter and book the culprits and place police guards to protect the temple property.
President Jwala Ji Trust Khrew M K Raina raised the issue of the Jwala Ji Temple from where the security was withdrawn sometime back and the temple has no security for the last six months. The management of the Trust went from pillar to post in Kashmir and despite orders from the highest authorities no action has been taken in the matter. The members appealed the Government to implement the orders of the police authorities and post security guards in the important shrine.
The meeting was held under the Chairmanship of A.N.Pandit who in his address said the Trust has to be absolutely pro active in the coming days and it may have to adopt agitational path and come on to the streets for the passage of the all important Temples and Shrines Bill.
