Keeping its journey of owning and using missile technology going with proper gusto and speed, India has successfully test fired quick reaction surface-to- air missiles (QRSAM) from the integrated test range at Chandipur base in Odisha on August 4. Two such flight tests, on back to back basis, of the state of art missiles as these, were done against live aerial targets. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) thus added one more feather on to its cap of achievements in the field of advanced missile technology.
It may be recalled that on February 26, 2019 two rounds of trials were successfully carried out on the same day when for different altitudes two missiles were test fired. The latest tests assumed importance in the light of hitting live aerial targets with accurate precision. The entire mission was captured live by various electro optical tracking systems, radar systems and telemetry systems. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has hailed the successful test firing. This was all done and developed for the Army with search and track on the move capability having a very short reaction time.
