LEH, Aug 12: To assess the damages caused due to flash floods and overflow of Siachen river since few days, the Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Leh Gyal P Wangyal today visited Morgi and Burma villages and met with the affected people.
CEC was accompanied by Dy. Chairman LAHDC, Leh ,Tsering Sandup, ACR Leh, Rigzin Spalgon, SDM, Nubra, Sonam Norboo, SE, PWD Leh, Tehsilder Sumoor, concerned engineers and officials.
CEC Wangyal was informed at Morgi that two residential houses at Morgi along with their standing crops including vegetable fields and trees were damaged severely due to flash flood. The flash flood hit Morgi village on the evening of August 10 around at 6:30 pm.
Interacting with the affected families, CEC Wangyal assured villagers for earliest assessment of property loss through revenue staff to claim relief and directed ACR Leh and Tehsilder Sumoor to mobilize their field staff along with concerned department officials to assess the losses and submit the report to Council at the earliest.
At Burma village where chunk of standing crops along with trees were completely eroded due to overflow of Siachen river since few days. CEC on spot directed SE PWD Leh to do the needful immediately to stop further erosion of land. The CEC also assured for assessment of property loss for claiming relief and assured that LAHDC, Leh will do its best to compensate the losses.
The people of Trisha village which was hit by flash flood last year demanded for speedy restoration of their link roads, drinking water pipelines and removal of debris from their agriculture fields. CEC on spot directed SE PWD and concerned officers to make a proposal and submit it to Council so that Council could do the needful accordingly.
At Charasa village the people headed by Councillor, Tegar Rigzin Lundup apprised visiting team about the demands of village. CEC assured to give due consideration to the genuine demands of village.
