SAMBA, Mar 6: Aggrieved over power failure in the area for the last three weeks, people of border village Rajpura held a strong protest against PDD and the concerned Executive Engineer, here today.
Led by local Sarpanch Bharat Indu Bhushan, the villagers assembled at main chowk of Rajpura this morning and started their protest. They raised slogans against PDD and the Executive Engineers for their failure to resume power supply in the area. They also torched an effigy of the PDD officials.
The protesters alleged that they were without electricity for the last three weeks but the PDD and its officials were not restoring the power supply in the areas.
After receiving information about the protest, Naib Tehsildar Lekhraj reached the spot on behalf of district administration and assured people of early redressal of their problem. Executive Engineer Kathua division also assured that power supply would be restored as soon as possible following which the protesters dispersed off peacefully.
