JAMMU, Aug 20: Retired in 2015, a senior police officer has alleged favouritism in J&K Public Service Commission (PSC) to help blue eyed in various selections which victimized him too and held the Article 370 responsible for that.
In a press conference here today DIG Vijay Singh Sambyal (retired) said some political families in Kashmir have used Article 370 for their personal gains and to flourish while common public has gained nothing of it.
Narrating his story the DIG said in the year 1978 he was selected as ASI in J&K Police while he had applied for Sub-Inspector. Click here to watch video
“Many candidates lesser eligible than me were selected as Sub-Inspectors. However under family advice I joined as ASI but also applied for KPS,” he informed adding that as some candidate with bigwig links had failed to apply, the PSC building suffered blaze in which all records were burnt and there were mains exams directly after that to accommodate bigwig candidates.
“In the selection list of 145, I was nowhere but in another list that was released a few days later I was selected as accounts officer, a post I was not interested in,” Sambyal said.
He informed that when meeting with the then CM, Dr Farooq Abdullah yielded nothing, a Kashmiri officer in Civil Secretariat helped him and he along with Shakeel Beigh joined police training after which his journey in police department started.
The retired DIG said that while serving in the police department he got many medals and honours.
“When I learned that Article 370 was abrogated I was very happy as I was one of the victims of the Article which has only benefitted a few political families of Kashmir,” he maintained adding that it would be better if Jammu be made a separate State or Union Territory and demanded probe into all the functioning of different organizations in J&K by CBI to unearth misappropriations.
