JAMMU, Aug 21: Several senior Congress leaders have condemned the administration for not allowing former J&K Chief Minister and senior All India Congress Committee (AICC) leader, Ghulam Nabi Azad to enter Jammu and sending him back to Delhi from Jammu Airport on Tuesday.
In a statement, senior Congress leaders and former ministers Jugal Kishore Sharma and Ajaz Khan termed it as most unfortunate and arbitrary action that Azad who is former Chief Minister and Member Rajya Sabha from J&K besides Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, has not been allowed to come out of the airport in Jammu and subsequently sent back to Delhi.
Senior Congress leaders described it as a mockery of democracy and a state of undeclared emergency that a leader of Azad’s stature was not allowed to enter his native state to meet and visit his family staying here. They said it occurs first time in the history of the state. Administration at one hand is claiming that total normalcy and removal of all the restrictions in Jammu and at the same time mainstream political leaders are being barred.
