JAMMU, Mar 7: Gandhi Nagar police today arrested a drug peddler and seized large quantity of intoxicants from his possession.
Identity of the accused has been established as Gulshan Kumar alias Kala of Sector 14 in Nanak Nagar , who was a habitual drug peddler and arrested earlier also for the similar offence. 218 bottles of Corex syrup, 1500 capsules of Pyravan Spas and 500 tablets of Alprex 500 have been seized from his possession.
The arrest was made by a police party, led by SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Gurmeet Singh, during a surprise checking of vehicles this evening at Balmiki Chowk Gandhi Nagar. Even as the accused, who was carrying the intoxicants in two bags, tried to flee but the cops chased and arrested him. A case under Section 8/21, 22 NDPS Act has been registered against the accused at Police Station Gandhi Nagar.
According to police, Kala was earlier arrested in 2007 by Gangyal Police for a similar offence.
