Udhampur, Mar 7: During his visit to Udhampur this morning, John Samuel, Chief Postmaster General, Jammu & Kashmir, declared that 5 Post Offices namely Reasi, Ramban, Banihal, Batote and Udhampur Court will be modernized under Project Arrow and dedicated to the public before March 31, 2013 under ‘Project Arrow’.
After modernization in Srinagar and Jammu cities, modernization of Post Offices in district headquarters and Tehsil headquarters has begun. CPMG announced that these steps will lead to Post Office development in a big way.
While reviewing the functioning of Udhampur Postal Division today, John Samuel, said that 119 posts of Postmasters and other delivery staff in villages shall be filled up within two months. Notification for this new recruitment of GDS (Gramin Dak Sevaks) staff members will be issued on April 1, 2013 by Supdt. of Post Offices, Udhampur Division and the last date for receipt of applications will be May 1, 2013.
During the meeting John Samuel directed Supdt. of Post Offices, Udhampur Division to ensure that all posts are filled up immediately. Chief PMG announced that 4 posts are reserved for handicapped (disabled persons). The recruitment shall be done purely on merit basis.
He said “Post Office revenue has grown more than 75% in the last two years. This makes it necessary for recruitment of new staff.” With additional staff employed in the Post Office, the Postal services will expand substantially, hoped Chief PMG.
During his visit to Udhampur, he had meetings with Pandurang K. Pole, District Magistrate Udhampur and discussed the developmental aspects. He assured the District Magistrate that Postal Services in Udhampur District will be improved with more number of Post Offices in villages.
CPMG appealed to the people of J&K to utilize the Post Office Banking services and Post Office mail services, that will facilitate the development of the State.
