Rs 5.6 lakh cash snatched

JAMMU, Mar 7: In a day light cash snatching, a contractor was today robbed of Rs 5.6 lakh worth cash near Marble Market under the jurisdiction of Gangyal police station by two miscreants when he was crossing the road after boarding of a matador.
Police said Kupinder Singh son of Ram Lochan Singh, a resident of Bihar, presently putting up at Bari Barahmana, a labour contractor, had withdrawn Rs 5.6 lakh cash from Bahu Plaza and boarded a Greater Kailash matador on way to Marble Market, near Trikuta Nagar.
As soon as he boarded of and was crossing the road, a miscreant snatched his bag and fled away on a waiting motorcycle.
Police said one of the cash snatchers had been following the contractor in the same matador and another on a bike from Bahu Plaza after he withdrew the amount from the bank. They struck when he was crossing the road alone.
The contractor later lodged a report with the police, which have been searching the accused.
A case has been registered for further investigations.
