JAMMU, Sept 2: The employees of JK Cements, an agency of J&K Government, are without salaries for the last about nine (9) months.
These employees from senior to the junior level and their families, are facing starvation as its parent department of Industries and Commerce has deprived them of their hard earned wages/ salaries for the last nine months.
Scores of employees from the JK Cements Plant, Bari Brahmana and their regional office at Udhyog Bhawan, Jammu met their Managing Director, I H Drabu two days ago in Jammu office and requested him to release their salaries, but he flatly refused and said he was helpless. He claimed that he had taken up the issue with the Principal Secretary, Industry and Commerce Navin K Choudhary but he has asked not to release the wages of the staff.
The aggrieved employees told the Excelsior that Managing Director and a few top officers are managing to draw their salaries but over hundred employees of Jammu region and others in Kashmir have been deprived of their salaries without any reason. They said that their families are facing starvation and the higher authorities have turned blind eye towards their genuine and justified plea. These employees are performing their duties and even the Jammu Plant is also functioning. They sought the intervention of State Governor , Satya Pal Malik and the Chief Secretary into the matter.
