LEH, Sept 3: The third-day of annual Ladakh Festival began with a beautiful Monastic dance performed by the monks of Diskit monastery in the court yard of Chokang Vihara, Leh today where the Thanka exhibition was also held.
The Festival is organized by the J&K Tourism Department, in association with local stakeholders, communities and district administrations of Leh.
Various events were held today that included final polo match between Ladakh Scouts Team and Animal Husbandry team which was won by Ladakh Scouts. Here Col Khanna, Adm. Comdt. Headquarter was the chief guest and gave away trophies to the winner and runner up teams.
Photo exhibition on different species of birds and mammals of Ladakh at main market was another highlight of the day which was witnessed by hundreds of people including locals and tourists. Likewise archery competition, Talk series, Film Screening, Food stalls, Handicrafts and Handloom exhibitions were also held at different places as a part of the Festival.
The Handicrafts and Handloom exhibition and food stall was inaugurated yesterday by the president MC, Leh Dr Ishey Namgyal at Eco-park Leh.
The main aim of the Ladakh Festival is to revitalize and bestow a spectacle of Ladakh’s deep-rooted culture, traditions and heritage for the world to admire and enjoy. The Festival provides a wonderful opportunity for the tourists to experience the culture and lifestyle of the people in Ladakh.
As a part of the Festival, a colourful Ladakhi musical concert is going on at this moment at Eco-Park and the grand closing ceremony of Ladakh Festival shall be held tomorrow at Leh Pologround.
