Public suffering due to restrictions: Malhotra

JAMMU, Sept 3: District Congress Committee Jammu Urban president, Vikram Malhotra has said that general public is suffering due to snapping of internet services in J&K.
While speaking in the meeting of DCC Jammu- Urban, held here today at PCC headquarters and attended by DCC office bearers, Block/ Ward presidents and Corporators, Malhotra said that the situation emerging out of the current bifurcation of the State, the restrictions imposed on mobile and internet services, the common man especially the business community is suffering a lot.
The middle and small business establishments, who were dependent on the movement of people from other parts of the J&K and tourists continue to suffer. The problem of unemployment is rising and the Government of the day should take steps at the earliest to mitigate their woes. Even the hotel industry is suffering as per reports published in certain section of the media. The Hotel industry which is largely dependent on the religious tourism continues to suffer since August 5, with several booking already cancelled.
Vikram said PDD is turning a blind eye to the woes of the general public as long unscheduled power cuts have become order of the day. The common masses continue to suffer in this hot and humid summer. Water supply in most of the colonies is erratic, adding to the miseries of the people. The civil administration should be more people friendly and respond to the needs of the people.
Malhotra urged upon the Govt to release the leaders of the Congress party who have been put under detention. He said Congress is the party which led the freedom struggle has its nationalist credentials embedded in the history of this country and added that detaining its leaders is not in the interest of this country.
He urged upon the Prime Minister and the Home Minister to restore the statehood of the glorious state of the Dogras and protect the domiciled right of the people of this erstwhile state, also ensure that the 50,000 jobs promised by the governor recently are exclusively for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Senior leaders Dr Rama Kant Khajuria, Mian Nazir Ahmed, Gorav Chopra, Sohbat Ali, Ch Dwarka, Rajinder Singh Jamwal, Ritu Choudhary, Bhanu Mahajan and Camres David also spoke on the occasion.
