SAMBA, Sept 3: The Sarpanches and Panches of the 15 Panchayats of district Samba today staged a strong protest demonstration at Receiving Station Jakh area of Vijaypur in district Samba today against the Power Development Department (PDD) blaming it for the unscheduled power cuts in their area..
According to the report, scores of Sarpanches and Panches of 15 Panchayats of Samba along with local people assembled at Receiving Station, Jakh under the leadership of Sarpanch Ram Pal and raised slogans against the officers of the Power Development Department. They alleged that the Department continues unscheduled power cuts in their areas for last three months, due to this the farmers were facing lot of trouble while the education of the children has also been affected due to unscheduled power cuts. They also said that one year ago, the Department was supposed to install a 6.3 mva capacity transformer at the Receiving Station, but till date it has not been installed.
Sarpanch Moni Sharma said that several times they met the senior officers of the Department regarding this issue but except hollow promise nothing was done.
After receipt the information Tehsildar Vijaypur, SHO Vijaypur Chaman Gorkha and AE of PDD Department reached on the spot and pacified the protesters. They assured that within ten days the demand will be settled. On this assurance protesters lifted the dharna.
