JAMMU, Sept 4: J&K United School Teachers Association (USTA) highlighted its demands in a meeting held today under the chairmanship of Hari Singh, its provincial president.
The Association leaders said it is unacceptable that the entire transfer order issued by the Chief Education Officer Jammu is kept in abeyance by Director School Education Jammu. “The lack of co-ordination between Chief Education Officer and Director School Education Jammu has rendered the entire transfer process as stand still,” they said and demanded repatriation of those serving in far flung areas for last 2-7 years at the earliest by effecting transfers as per transfer policy.
USTA further expressed its anguish over the temporary promotions of masters to lecturers by violating existing rules. The leaders strongly condemned the authorities for not paying regular salary to large number of teachers working under SSA (now Samagra). “It is very unfortunate that the 7th Pay Commission arrears and salary for the month of January, February 2018 and March 2019 has not been paid till date to masters working as head teachers,” they lamented.
Hari Singh stressed upon the Government to implement SAC decision to convert all left out RRets in teacher grade II or III and release their 6 months pending salary as well as whole arrears of 7th Pay Commission. He further expressed concern over the lackadaisical and non serious approach of authorities towards the process of regularization of incharge lecturers, headmasters and other officers.
Other demands raised in the meeting were making promotions through DPC and fill vacancies of masters, headmasters, lecturers, ZEO’s and non-teaching staff including 4th class, according senior teacher grade to trained under graduate teachers, beginning Pre Primary classes with infrastructure in all schools having Primary classes, debarring teachers from all type of non-academic duties, etc.
USTA appealed the Governor administration to concede all the demands at an earliest otherwise teaching community will be compelled to resort to agitation in near future.
