UDHAMPUR, Sept 6: Under Civic Action Programme, J&K Police distributed books and other stationary items to needy students of various schools of Kud, Chenani and sewing machines to needy women at Basantgarh, in Udhampur district.
SSP Udhampur, Rajiv Pandey distributed books and other stationary items to the needy students of Govt Middle School Kud, Govt Middle School Dogra Kud, Govt High School Pachote and Govt Midlle School Upper Karla Kud.
Santokh Raj Deol, SDPO Chenani; Insp Mohd Amin, SHO PS Kud; Insp Paramjeet Singh, SHO PS Chenani, Headmasters, Teachers, school students and other prominent citizens of Kud, Chenani and its surrounding areas were present on the occasion
Speaking on the occasion, the SSP laid emphasis on the importance of education and competitive spirit in the life of a human being and especially students.
At Basantgarh, Udhampur Police distributed 10 sewing machines among the needy widow and unemployed ladies. Rajinder Singh Katoch, Addl SP Udhampur, distributed these sewing machines to the needy widows / unemployed ladies at Community Hall Basantgarh in the presence of Jagdev Singh Slathia, SDPO Ramnagar; Insp Modh Irfan, SHO PS Basantgarh; Kewal Singh Parihar, Sarpanch Basantgarh; Mohd Saleem, Naib Sarpanch Basantgarh and other prominent citizens of Basantgarh area.
The main aim of distributing these sewing machines by Udhampur Police was to give opportunity to the needy women for self employment to earn their livelihood.
Later, a PCPG meeting was also conducted by Addl SP Rajinder Singh Katoch. The meeting was attended by prominent people of different mohallas under jurisdiction of PS Basantgarh.
