JAMMU, Sept 6: 2nd Bi-Annual 3-day Vigilance Conclave, organized by Ministry of Steel and NMDC Limited, commenced today at Hyderabad with over 150 delegates from various CPSEs under Ministry of Steel across the country.
The primary objective of this conclave is to sensitize officials on issues pertaining to Procurement, Tendering, Vigilance, Finance, Legal and Works. The conclave started with Guru Vandana as a tribute to Dr Sarvepalli Radha Krishna, as September 5 happens to be Teachers Day.
The conclave was inaugurated by the chief guest – Binoy Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Steel. In his keynote address, he emphasized the importance of public procurement in Government enterprises and advised one and all to work fearlessly with confidence duly following the rules & procedures. He stated that executives are to be trained to take good business decisions which will be key to organization’s growth. He stated that ‘Ignorance of rules is not an excuse’. He also emphasized that open and transparent decisions require continuous learning and updating of knowledge.
N Baijendra Kumar, CMD, NMDC Limited, in his inaugural address, highlighted the importance of transparent and corruption free environment. He expressed the need to make distinction between bonafide business decisions and malafide decisions to keep up the morale of dedicated officials. He concluded talk on an optimistic note with quote “light the candle of knowledge rather than blaming the darkness”.
V V S Sreenivas, Chief Vigilance Officer, NMDC, informed that sessions for the conclave have been designed to create a positive synergy between vigilance and executives and to help them emerge as efficient and transparent decision makers.
Ruchika Chaudhry Govil, Jt Secretary & CVO, Ministry of Steel, said that such conclaves will give participants an opportunity to learn, share, express and discuss concerns in a candid manner to find solution to problems they experience in day to day working.
