Bangladesh turmoil affects bilateral trade in Tripura

AGARTALA, Mar 9:  Import and export business between Tripura and Bangladesh have seriously been affected over past two weeks following political turmoil across the border.
Fish markets of the state have been affected and there was severe shortfall in supply of fish in all the markets of the state, which resulted fish price hike up to Rs 800 kilo coupled with reduction of supply of fish varieties.
Tripura’s Minister of Industries and Commerce Jitendra Choudhury admitted the negative impact of bilateral trade with Tripura besides, short fall of import including fishes from Bangladesh following the movement.
He however, stated that democratic traditions of Bangladesh would grow stronger with time and the people would preserve democracy and non-violence Shahabag movement gave a spontaneously phase of younger generation who were born after Bangladesh struggle for freedom against the fundamental forces.
He hoped that normalcy would soon be restored and Bangladesh will see another new dawn after 1971 liberation war and added India and Bangladesh could lead the way towards greater integration within the region and beyond Southeast Asia.
Mr Choudhury however, pointed out that new government in Tripura had planned to export indigenous products to Bangladesh besides, bamboo and rubber produces.
