JMC House Committee discusses construction, layout plans for city

JAMMU, Sept 8: House Committee of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) here today held a meeting under the chairmanship of Councillor, Rajinder Sharma wherein Councillors-Parmod Kapai, Pawan Singh and Gourav Chopra-all Committee members were also present.
A detailed discussion was held for construction and layout plans for built-up, non-built-up and commercial areas in the city.
It was decided that expert advice will be sought from town planners, retired and serving Government officers and public for drafting building plans for Jammu city.
Speaking in the meeting Rajinder Sharma said that building plans of cities like Mumbai, Surat and Gujarat will also be studied.
He further said that administrative procedures will be made simple for better compliance by the public.
“Some of the formalities will be put under Public Services Guarantee Act so that whole process is completed in the shortest possible time,” Sharma further said.
The meeting decided that poor people having land less than 2.5 marlas who want to construct single room and a bath room should not be put to cumbersome procedures and an officer of the rank of Joint Commissioner should provide them approval for construction.
Other issues discussed were simplification of procedures for new areas included in JMC where building approval are being granted by Block Development Officer.
Also discussed was the issue of providing building permission to more than one applicant of the same family in Sainik Colonies, Cooperative Housing Societies, Housing Board Colonies etc keeping in view that it does not alter the planned outlook of the society.
The Committee also sought suggestions from the public regarding formulation of building schemes and plans for Jammu city under section 260 of JMC.
A handout stated that such suggestions should be brought every Sunday from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Conference Hall of JMC.
