JAMMU, Mar 9: In a reaction to a tragic road accident held yesterday in Rajouri, which claimed 15 lives and injuring 25 others, Law Knowing People’s Association (LKPA) has condemned the Government calling the tragedy a system failure.
Addressing the media persons here today, convener, LKPA, Advocate Arjun Singh Pathania attacked the Government dubbing it negligent and the concerned officials as corrupt and incompetent.
He claimed that hardly 1% of accidents are by chance or ill-luck, while rest of them are the result of negligent-driving, overloading and overspeed. All these man-made maladies are within the notice of the Government, but they have done nothing concrete to cure them.
He questioned the huge deployment of traffic police in capital cities for giving a clear passage to Chief Minister and his Ministers. He wondered why relevant number of traffic police personnel have not been posted on all routes other then National Highway.
On the behalf of the law knowing community, Pathania appealed the Chief Minister to appoint a high-level committee of competent officers to recommend a series of steps to be taken by the Government to avoid such mis-happenings in future.
