MIER organizes Coordinators’ meet

JAMMU, Mar 9: MIER College of Education in collaboration with Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), New Delhi and its North Zonal Coordination Committee, organized a two-day course Coordinators’ meet at its College campus, here today.
Major General Ian Cardozo, Chairman, RCI, was the chief guest while Hafiza Muzaffar, State-Level Executive Director, Rehabilitation Council, Department of Social Welfare, J&K, was the guest of honour.
Other prominent persons present on the occasion were Dr Subodh Kumar, Deputy Director (Academic), RCI, Sara Johnson, Executive Director NZC, RCI, Ludhiana, Sandeep Tambe, Assistant Director, RCI, Dr Arun K Gupta, Chairman and Dr Renu Gupta, Director, MIER group of Institutions.
The meet was attended by more than 60 course coordinators from northern and central States of India.
The workshop opened with lighting of lamp of hope for the disabled by the chief guest followed by a group song presented by the students of MIER College of Education.
In his inaugural address, the Major General raised issues concerning inclusive education, which would help in developing confidence and empowerment among the disabled persons. He exhorted the participants to treat disability as a priority not a problem and make a difference by becoming an instrument of change to lead the disability sector. He concluded his deliberations by giving the message-‘Be focused and never give up’.
During the meet, six technical sessions on different themes including Inspection Report format for new programmes, for ongoing programmes, for Academic monitoring and Analysis system, Assignment on Inspection format by the Course Coordinators and discussion on other relevant issues, were held by the experts from RCI.
Earlier, Dr Arun K Gupta formally welcomed the chief guest, other dignitaries and participants from different states.
Dr Subodh Kumar highlighted the objectives of the programme, which was mainly to have regular interaction between the various course coordinators and the officials of the RCI and develop coordination for ensuring seamless implementation of RCI programmes and policies.
Hafiza Muzaffar highlighted the contributions made by her organization especially in the upliftment of women.
The workshop ended with the distribution of certificates to the participants.
