NEW DELHI, Sep 10: The Central Public Works Department has directed senior officers to launch a drive for completion of the delayed projects at the earliest, an official said on Tuesday.
According to the CPWD, which comes under the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry, officers will chart out a detailed action plan for completion of its delayed works under them within seven days.
The move comes after a committee recommended “radical measures” for increasing the work load of CPWD, a prime construction agency of the central government.
In its report, the panel said there is need for prioritisation at divisional level with focused and regular monitoring of works at senior level, for works delayed beyond three months.
“It has been decided that all ADGs (additional director generals) under their jurisdiction will launch a drive for completion of the delayed works at the earliest possible time by day to day monitoring,” the official said.
The CPWD also looks after maintenance of central government buildings and erecting of fences on the country’s international borders, among others.
The agency also carries out projects in foreign countries under friendship programmes with India. (PTI)
