RAJOURI, Sept 11: District Development Commissioner, Mohammad Aijaz Asad today visited forward areas of LoC in Nowshera Deeing sector to take the first-hand appraisal of the damages due to yesterday’s cross border shelling.
On spot instructions were issued to assess the damage caused to residential structures and livestock. No loss to the human life has been reported.
The DDC interacted with people affected by cross border shelling. He took stock of the basic amenities being provided by the district administration for their convenience. The DDC inspected the progress on the construction of individual and community bunkers in the area.
He informed locals that additional bunkers have been sanctioned for the LoC areas and the work shall be completed within the shortest possible time aand handed over to border residents. He further informed that a total of 61 individual/community bunkers have been sanctioned for Deeing out of which 21 stand completed and rest will be completed in a month time.
During his visit and after assessing the damage to the residential structures due to border shelling, the District Development Commissioner sanctioned Rs 40,000 in favour of Bachan Singh and Rs. 40,000 in favour of Ashok Kumar of Deeing as immediate assistance and assured that every possible help would be provided to the affected families.
Meanwhile an affected family took shelter in a newly built Bunker and survived unhurt amidst heavy shelling from other side of the LoC.
DDC was accompanied by Senior Superintendent of police Yougal Manhas, Additional Deputy Commissioner Nowshera, Sukhdev Singh Samyal, Additional Superintendent of Police, Girdhari Lal, SDPO Nowshera, Brijesh Sharma, Tehsildar Nowshera,Babu Ram, BDO Seri and other concerned officers of civil administration.
