Technical team to examine cause of ropeway rescue trolley crash

JAMMU, Sept 12: Government has constituted a technical team to examine the cause of Jammu ropeway rescue trolley crash and suggest corrective measures to rectify the defect for its smooth operation.
Two persons had lost their lives and four others sustained injuries in the incident which took place on January 20, 2019.
Following the incident, Government had ordered magisterial enquiry to ascertain the causes behind the tragedy and the then Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu in his report had held glaring violation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) responsible for the tragedy.
Now, Government, on the request of the Tourism Department, has constituted a technical team to examine the cause of incident of rescue trolley of ropeway near Mahamaya temple and suggest corrective measures to rectify the defects in the ropeway for its smooth operation.
The technical team is headed by Chief Engineer, Mechanical Engineering Department Jammu and comprised of Chief Engineer M&RE Jammu, Executive Engineer from J&K State Cable Car Corporation Limited and an expert from Gulmarg Ropeway Project.
The team has been directed to submit its report to the Tourism Department by October 5, 2019.
