Anant Chaturdashi celebrated with religious fervor, gaiety

JAMMU, Sept 13: Anant Chaturdashi was celebrated with full religious fervor and gaiety today.
In this connection a Maha Yagya was performed at Nagbal Anantnag in Kashmir Valley by Prabandhak Committee led by M K Bumbroo. The Maha Yagya started last night and Puranahuti was performed this afternoon.
The Hawan was organized by Prabhandak Committee members including Babloo Ji Jad, Jigan Ji Goja, Shadi Lal Pandita and Ramesh Bhat who had specially gone to Valley to hold the religious function and keep the tradition alive.
On the occasion, Bhajan Kirtan was also held and significance of Anant Chaturdashi in context of Nagbal Anantnag was also highlighted.
Another function was held at Mata Roopbhawani Temple, Sharda Colony, Patoli Brahmana in which a large number of devotees drawn from different parts of Jammu and adjoining areas participated. The relic of Mata Roopbhawani was displayed for darshan by the Management of the temple led by Avtar Krishan Dhar. A day -long pooja -archana was also performed in the temple and Bhajan -Kirtan in the praise of Mata was held by the devotees.
Some scholars threw light on the life history of Mata Roopbhawani and the festival of Anantchaturdashi as per Hindu mythology.
It may be recalled that the relic of Mata is displayed for darshan once in a year on this holy day and its Pooja- Archana is performed in traditional way.
The devotees were also served with the Prashad and a Samohik prayer was also held for the peace and prosperity of mankind on the occasion.
