KATRA, Sept 15: Holding Kashmiri leadership responsible for present mess in J&K, Union Minister of State in PMO with Independent Charge of North Eastern States, Dr Jitendra Singh today said that Kashmiri people were held to ransom for decades together by their own leaders.
Addressing a party function here, the Union Minister said that people of Kashmir were exploited by their own leaders for decades together for their vested interests which led to present mess in the State.
Dr Jitendra Singh accused these leaders of playing with the democracy in the State to promote their dynasties rule. Justifying the Modi Government decision to abrogate Articles 370 and 35 A, he said only those are perturbed with this decision, who were elected with 10 percent votes. Even their families did not vote for them and demanded that there should be minimum cut off of vote percentage for candidates getting elected to Assemblies and Lok Sabha.
Allaying the fears that with abrogation of Article 370 there will be cultural dilution and people will lose the jobs, Dr Jitendra Singh said nothing like that will happen. He asked when people of those areas of J&K which are bordering Punjab and HP could not get employment in their neighbouring States how can outsiders get employment here? He said there are basic parameters for recruitment in every State.
He said Article 370 was a great impediment as proper benefits of Government policies and decisions were not reaching people of J&K hence it was abrogated.
He said the work on the abrogation of controversial Articles was done meticulously and full research was done by Modi Government. Even former Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley despite being ill wrote on Article 370 abrogation on August 6.
He said earlier those who were saying that CM is not allowing to work independently are now free as they have no binding and restriction from any where.
The Minister said that Union Home Minister, Amit Shah had said that Statehood to J&K will be restored at appropriate time and I said it will not take 72 years for restoration of Statehood which took abrogation of Article 370.
He, while giving a stern warning to terrorists and separatists said Modi Government will not spare anti nationals as there can be no premium on anti India activism. No violent incident took place in Kashmir after abrogation of Article 370 and curfew was not imposed any where in the Valley, he added.
The Union Minister said that world has not opposed India on abrogation of Article 370 as they know India is emerging as a great power while Pakistan stands isolated. “Situation will better only in four months because Kashmiris too don’t want to lag behind in development and Modi Government is committed to develop J&K at par with other States of country”. He asked the people that they have not to worry now as “no one will eat your share in the new arrangement”.
Dr Jitendra Singh said the BJP and Dr Shyama Prasad Mookherjee who laid down his life on the soil of J&K for total integration of State with India stands vindicated and history has proved that former Chief Minister of J&K, Sheikh Abdullah and former Prime Minister, Jawahar Lal Nehru were wrong by introducing Article 370 in the Constitution.
He also paid rich tributes to Pt Prem Nath Dogra who he said had launched a movement in J&K for total merger of State with India and later he was joined by Jana Sangh stalwart Shyama Prasad Mookherjee.
He said during the debate on abrogation of Article 370 he had said in Lok Sabha that even before this debate is concluded, this day goes in history a day of redemption, rejuvenation and resurgence.
He said instead of becoming reactionary our narrative should be clear. “Some one asked me when the leaders will be released and I told him in clear terms that they will be released before 18 months”, he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh said even Kashmiris will realise the benefits of abrogation of Article 370 within four five months. Out of 1.25 crore State population the number of employees is six lakh which means 20 to 25 lakh population is linked to them. All the Government employees salaries will increase, they will get all facilities as given to Union Government employees including House Rent and LTC after every three years. The most benefit of it will go to Kashmir as maximum employees are from Valley, he added.
The Muslim community of Kashmir knows its benefits very well, he said and added that the greatest decision taken by Government is that it purchased fruit from growers directly and after selling it in Delhi Mandis the profit was given to growers.
He said the land to tiller policy of NC was translated by Modi Government into reality by launching PM Kissan Yojna.
The gathering among others was addressed by BJP general secretary (Org) Ashok Kaul, vice president BJP, Pawan Khajuria, former Minister, Ajay Nanda, former MLA, Baldev Sharma, district president, Kuldeep Raj Dubey. Shashi Khajuria, chairman, Katra Municipality proposed vote of thanks while stage was managed by Ajay Baru.
Earlier, addressing another function organised by Sewa Bharti at Katra, Dr Jitendra Singh said that 66 years back a man from Bengal came J&K and made this land his ‘Karam Bhoomi’ and now another person from that land has reached here to accomplish the unfinished task of Dr Shayama Prasad Mookherjee.
The Minister said that “if our works will be compared with the works done by Jaidev commonly known as Dhada in social field we will look too small before him”.
He said Dhada is working for welfare of the militancy and other natural calamities affected children. He has given refuge to such children from Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh and is working for their welfare tirelessly. Though belonging to different religions they ( children)become one here, he added.
He said no plastic movement of PM has been started from here. Earlier, Reasi district was declared ODF and holy shrine of Katra was declared Icon Shrine recently.
Dr Jitendra Singh, while acknowledging work of Sewa Bharti appealed people to donate for this organisation generously, which is working for upliftment and betterment of humanity.
DC Reasi also spoke on the occasion. Earlier, students of DISHA performed colourful cultural programmes with a theme of making the land plastic free.
