DCC president demands justice for victim’s family

RAJOURI, Sept 16: Former minister and District Congress Committee (DCC) president for Rajouri, Shabir Ahmed Khan has demanded a fair probe into the death of youth from Manjakote area in police custody at Miran Sahib in Jammu on Saturday.
In a press statement here today, the senior Congress leader alleged that as per victim’s family 32-year-old Ikhlaq Ahmed, hailing from Kotli Kalaban in Manjakote, who was living along with his brother at Janipur in Jammu was lifted by police at around 2 pm on Saturday. He remained in police custody and was allegedly beaten up badly. His brother, an advocate in Jammu High Court was informed by cops only after his death.
Khan demanded that fair justice be provided to the family of the deceased. He alleged that Police was trying to shield its own people and merely for face saving two cops were suspended on Sunday while no action was taken against SHO or any other senior officer at Miran Sahib Police Station. He demanded that a case be registered against the cops responsible for the murder of youth in custody.
