Karan to get World Peace Prize

PUNE, Sept 16:
Well-known philosopher, thinker, senior politician and former Union Minister Dr Karan Singh will be conferred the Philosopher Saint Shri Dnyaneshwara World Peace Prize-2019 next month.
The award will be given on the 5th World Parliament on Science, Religion and Philosophy, which will be held at Vishwa Rajbaug, MIT-ADTU campus, Loni Kalbhor in Pune, on October 3.
Given by the World Peace Center (Alandi), MAEER’s, MIT World Peace University-Pune, the award consists of a golden replica of Saint Shri Dnyaneshwara, gold medal, citation of honour and cash prize of Rs 5.25 lakh, Prof Dr Vishwanath D Karad, president, MIT World Peace University, said in a press release here today.
Reputed guests from the fields of Science, Spirituality, social activists, educationalists, philosophers, chancellors and businessmen will be coming from all over the world for this award ceremony, given in the name of Philosopher Saint Shri Dnyaneshwara, the release added.
Dr Karad further said that Dr Singh is a senior politician from Jammu and Kashmir and also served as the State’s President (Sadr-i-Riyasat) and Governor.
Dr Singh, the son of Maharaja Hari Singh, the last ruler of J&K, completed his schooling from the Doon School, Dehra Dun, and received a BA degree from Jammu and Kashmir University, Srinagar, and subsequently an MA degree in Political Science and a PhD from Banaras Hindu University.
He has been a representative of both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha in his political career and has also served as a Union Minister in the Government of India. He is a prominent thinker, philosopher and an academician, the release said.
Since inception of the World Peace Prize, the award has been conferred upon Sri Sri Ravishankarji, H H Mata Amritanandmai Devi, Mr Hiroo Saionji and Ms Masami Saionji, Japan, Rev Dada J P Vasvani, Pramukh Swamiji of Akshar Purshottam Sanstha, Mahayogi Shri M Mumtaz Ali Khan and Dr Fritjoff Kapra, among various other eminent people from the world over, the release added.
The award committee is headed by renowned scientist Padma Vibhushan Dr Raghunath Mashelkar, Fellow of Royal Society (FRS), London, and comprises internationally acclaimed, Computer Scientist of India — Padma Bhushan Dr Vijay P Bhatkar and His Holiness Kisan Maharaj Sakhare, along with other learned scholars, thinkers, philosophers and scientists from India, Mr Karad stated.
