JAMMU, Sept 17: An awareness programme on ‘Solid Waste Management, Plastic Waste Management and Plantation Drive’ was held here today by Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) in collaboration with Cooperative Public Higher Secondary School Deeli.
Dr. Zaffar Iqbal, MVO/Nodal Officer Solid Waste Management JMC supervised the awareness programme in which JMC had also installed banners and posters on the subject.
Principal of the School, Veenu Prabhakar and her staff coordinated the programme wherein Master Jorawar Singh delivered a lecture on solid waste management and stressed on saying no to the use of plastic.
He talked about different ways to dispose solid wastes.
The Principal hailed the work of JMC while the students appealed to the people to stop using polythene carry bags.
The programme attended by Ashwani Kumar, Romit Verma, Davinder Singh and others.
A handout stated that the programme was organised on the directions of Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor JMC; Purnima Sharma, Deputy Mayor; Suraj Parkash Padha, Chairman Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and Pankaj Magotra, Commissioner JMC.
